"Without a doubt, 3GSM World Congress 2005 has been the most well-attended, most exciting and most important gathering ever for the mobile industry," said Bill Gajda, Chief Marketing Officer at the GSM Association.
"With the success of 3G in 2005, I believe we will see continued growth for this event next year. We look forward to welcoming everyone to Barcelona in 2006, where we're sure that we can transplant the best of Cannes’ 'village' atmosphere into the Fira de Barcelona's vibrant space."

The highlights of the final event in Cannes included the growing momentum of 3G; its continuing evolution with technologies such as IP Multimedia System (IMS) and High Speed Data Packet Access (HSDPA) and low cost handsets for emerging economies.
Operators, vendors and software developers were all talking about the bright prospects for 3G as services continue to roll-out and subscribers begin to seek new services that are by turns entertaining, educational or vital business tools.
The GSM Association announced the first results of its initiative to create an ultra low-cost handset segment with a target price of sub-$30.
In 2006, the event's new home will be Spain’s Fira de Barcelona conference and exhibition complex where the more extensive facilities will more easily accommodate the growing attendance of 3GSM World Congress.
